Slow-Pitch jam with the famous Sue Malcom and her band HighRise Lonesome at the venerable ANZA club! Followed by an open Bluegrass jam.

Join this beginner-friendly and low-pressure jam as Sue leads us through bluegrass standards, explains jamming etiquette, gives tips and tricks and encourages solos (by group) .

Slow-Pitch Jam will take place on the ANZA main floor. There is usually a bluegrass jam taking place all evening in the lounge downstairs.

The lovely folks at Dogwood Brewing are hosting an old-time fiddle jam! Come by for some beer and pizza and tunes!

If you're looking for a slower, led old-time jam, check out our monthly Monday night jam at the Anza club (usually 3rd Mondays of the month).

Square Dances in East Van will continue in Spring 2026 at the Wise Hall. Please join us!

We have five dances planned (all on Thursdays): Jan 22, Feb 26, Mar 12, Apr 23, May 7,

Each dance has a different band and caller!

No experience needed, our caller will teach you everything you need to know! Bring a partner or find one there, folks often dance with different partners throughout the evening. All genders and orientations welcome.

The Wise Hall serves alcohol at the bar and remember to bring your ID for admission. This event is for 19+ only.

Join the open Bluegrass jam:

$6 drop-in fee for members, $8 for non-members. Jam begins at 7:30 until late. Please enter using the main floor door, at the corner of 8th Ave. and Ontario St.

We follow common Bluegrass protocols:

- Acoustic stringed instruments only please

- Take turns leading songs, and taking breaks

- When not playing a solo, keep your volume low, especially during others' solos

- When leading a song, give clear signals to the other musicians about whose turn is next

- Stay within the broadly defined Bluegrass/Americana genre as much as possible

If you'd like to sign up to perform at this event, please email pacificbluegrass@yahoo.ca. You can sign up as a solo act, duo or band and can play two to three songs. Please note that all performers must be active PBOMS members.
